Putin: Russia, US start to see moments of trust in relations
GENEVA, Jun 16 (PRIME) -- Relations between Russia and the U.S. have started to soften, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday after a meeting with U.S. counterpart Joe Biden.
"As you know, Leo Tolstoi once said, "Seize the moments of happiness, love and be loved! That is the only reality in the world, all else is folly." I think, there can be no family-like trust in this situation but there have been moments," Putin said.
The U.S. concerns over Russia's militarization of the Arctic are ungrounded, he said. "These worries of the American side about militarization are absolutely ungrounded. We do nothing more than the Soviet Union did, we are restoring the infrastructure that was destroyed and lost. Yes, we do this at a modern level," Putin said.
Russia will fulfill international norms on the Northern Sea Route at full extent, Putin said.
Russia has only one obligation to Ukraine -- fulfillment of the Minsk agreements. "Concerning obligations to Ukraine, we have only one, to do our best to fulfill the Minsk deals," he said,
Putin also said referring to the questions about Alexei Navalny that he ignored the Russian law knowingly.
